Successful 12th Piano Duo Festival Amsterdam: rhythm in the spotlight
Last Sunday, the twelfth edition of the Pianoduo Festival Amsterdam concluded with two unique Lying Listening concerts in De Vondelkerk. During our four festival days, we enjoyed a diverse programme in beautiful locations throughout Amsterdam. The central theme was rhythm within (piano duo) music: with our festival theme ‘We've got rhythm’, we wanted to highlight this oh-so-important aspect. So we listened to a special version of Ravel's Bolero for piano four hands and percussion, gamelan-inspired Balinese songs, Argentinean tangos and new music by composer Thomas Van Dun, who was inspired by classical, minimal music and trance rhythms.
